The #OFFSIDE team is pleased to "drop the puck" on this hockey season with a very special set of #podcast episodes we're calling our #BuildersSeries, featuring both men and women who have helped grow the #femalegame over multiple decades in Canada and beyond.
In our first episode, hosts #RhondaTaylor and #DaveBriglio talk to two true male leaders in the female game. Yes, you read that right. One of our incredible interviewees is #MurrayCostello, former NHL player and president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) Hockey Canada Canada - who has long been one of the most prominent male advocates of #womenshockey in our country and around the globe. Costello helped establish the #ProgramofExcellence for #HockeyCanada and was a driving force behind the formation of both Canada's National Women's Team and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championship.
Our other incredible interviewee is #PatReid, former board member and director of operations for the #CAHA, now Hockey Canada, when the women in red and white won their first world championship gold medal at the inaugural event in Ottawa, Ont. He's also the guy who suggested #TeamCanada wear pink jerseys and training gear, but more on that later.
In our first episode, OFFSIDE author and leader Rhonda chats with the guys about her time as the first-ever director of CAHA's #FemaleCouncil and the group shares a unique behind-the-scenes look at the growth of the female game at its very beginnings in both national and international arenas.
