Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (Sometimes Happiness, Sometimes Sadness) is a 2001 Indian Hindi-language family drama film written and directed by Karan Johar. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles, with Rani Mukerji appearing in a cameo role. The film tells the story of an affluent Indian family that faces a crisis when the elder son Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) marries a lower-class woman Anjali (Kajol) against his father's wishes. Years later, his younger brother Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) sets out to reunite his estranged family.

The film was a critical and commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of 2001 and the second-highest-grossing Indian film ever at the time of its release. It won several awards, including five Filmfare Awards and the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. It was also India's official entry for the 74th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not nominated.


The film has been dubbed into several languages, including Malayalam. The Malayalam version of the film was released in Kerala on 25 January 2002. The dubbing was done by professional Malayalam voice actors, such as Murali Menon (for Amitabh Bachchan), Sreeja Ravi (for Jaya Bachchan), Sankaradi (for Alok Nath), Anandavally (for Farida Jalal), N F Varghese (for Johnny Lever), Praveena (for Kajol), Sreenivasan (for Shah Rukh Khan), Jayaram (for Hrithik Roshan) and Kavya Madhavan (for Kareena Kapoor). The songs were also translated and sung in Malayalam by singers such as K. S. Chithra, M. G. Sreekumar, K. J. Yesudas and Sujatha Mohan.


The Malayalam version of the film received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, who praised the performances, the music, the cinematography and the emotional appeal of the story. The film was also a box office hit in Kerala, grossing over 3 crore in its theatrical run. The film has since become a cult classic among Malayalam-speaking audiences, who often watch it on television or online platforms.
